We begin this story from Hebrews 9:15. That’s our anchor. But to really understand it, we must go back — back to the beginning, before Mary, before Gabriel, before the prophets. Before an angel ever appeared to a virgin, there was a plan. There were prophecies, yes — but even before those, there was a divine agreement. A decision was made among the Godhead. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit had to safe humanity. When exactly did this happen? At what point did the Godhead decide that a perfect sacrifice was the only way to deliver the mankind? There was a plan –it was a well-thought-out plan. A decision rooted in love, justice, and eternity.
The plan was clear:
- Son, go and die.
- Holy Spirit, take over the earth. Live among them and within them.
- Father, oversee the fulfillment of the plan.
This wasn’t random — it was intentional. For the sacrifice to be perfect, it had to come from heaven. No human could carry that weight. Yet, it also had to be offered through an earthly body to meet divine justice –the Word became flesh. A fully heavenly body alone wouldn’t have been appropriate (for lack of a better word). It had to be God in flesh — divinity wrapped in humanity. Jesus knew exactly what would happen to Him. That’s why He prayed so hard in the garden. That’s why He even wished the cup could pass. Sometimes I wonder if God revealed the process we had to go through before the end of the tunnel if would not chicken out. But Christ knew everything He was to go through for our redemption and inheritance (Ephesians 1:7, 14). But He also knew — only His body could endure that level of pain and torture. Only He could carry that cross. I believe no human body could endure pain for long, He was beaten beyond recognition –the ugliness of sin and human wickedness.
Sacrifices are made to deities. In this case, Christ sacrificed Himself to God — not to man, not to the devil, but to God. He became the sacrifice that satisfied divine justice. He is the mediator — the one who bridges the gap between God and man. Christ’s ministry is God’s perfect idea for man’s total freedom and redemption. The blood of Jesus represents the sacrificial blood that was sprinkled on our behalf — not on an altar made by human hands, but before the throne of God in heaven. This is the new covenant.
As we come to this truth, we begin to understand that this is the covenant we have with the Father, through the Son, and manifested by the Holy Spirit. Through this, we don’t just believe — we manifest the truth. We no longer live under the lie imposed by past covenants, rooted in the evil foundations of our bloodlines.
Jesus is the covenant.
Everything about Him is the covenant.
His character.
His lifestyle.
His obedience.
Who He is — is the covenant. And through Him, we receive the inheritance promised. It is our right in Christ. So, it is wrong — deeply wrong — to live in Christ yet manifest the penalties and curses of old covenants, especially those rooted in sin, ignorance, and ancestral foundations. Hebrews 8:13 tells us that the new covenant — Christ Jesus Himself — has made the old obsolete. It’s not just outdated — it has been wiped out. This is a revelational truth. And when we come into this truth, we can truly begin to manifest the new covenant. Its work has already been done. It is finished
